Sanyuka Children’s Ministry
Sanyuka is a word that mean “Happy” and that’s exactly what this children’s ministry is doing, making orphaned and abandoned children happy by taking them in, loving them well and providing a nourishing upbringing, both physically and spiritually. We are creating a solid foundation for the children to lead a fulfilling life despite their lack or family and personal setbacks that have burdened them and made them orphans.
Sanyuka is run by a loving young man named Peter Muwambi, who was orphaned himself at age 13. Surviving a rough upbringing on his own he came across 2 abandoned children in 2015. He took them to the local authorities and when it was determined that they had no parents or family to care for them, Peter took them in and provided their care. People saw this and more kids have come into Peter’s care since then. Today there are 25 amazing young children being cared for at Sanyuka, with nourishing meals, school fee and supplies, Bible study and church community and a loving family provided by Peter and his wife and children. Peter is joined by his wife and family, local church volunteers, a loving board of directors all of whom have an orphan story in their own family and a handful of faithful donors who are led by God to support this important mission.
The vision for Sanyuka is to grow into a larger school and eventually become a home for more children and a place where life skills and trades are taught. The goal is to bless the local community lifting more and more people out of poverty and to give them hope and a purpose and the knowledge of their loving heavenly Father through a relationship with Jesus Christ.
We will be fundraising for the different phases of this larger vision, but our current needs are to build a support team to be able to fund the day-to-day living and school and medical expenses for the children. The 2024 budget is $28,400.00.
“Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke?
Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter— when you see the naked, to clothe them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?
Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard.”
